Fort Simpson
Located on the western edge of the Northwest Territories Canada, Fort Simpson is the government centre for the Dehcho region. With a population of approx. 1200, Fort Simpson is also home to corporate offices such as Canadian Zinc’s Prairie Creek Mine, and Enbridge Pipeline.
Fort Simpson (or Liidlii Kue, “place where the rivers come together”) is the Dehcho’s gateway to the Nahanni. Lodge here as a base and take off for the mountains by air or by boat. Day tours are offered by local air charter companies to Virginia Falls and other points in Nahanni National Park. There is much to do in the region. Talk to us about your adventure plans: fishing, a stay at a lodge on a mountain lake, looking for the aurora borealis, or travel the Nahanni River on a camping trip into the pristine wilderness.
