Guided Walks
Stop by the Visitor Information Centre on your way into town to arrange a guided walking tour of Fort Simpson. This historic walking tour covers prospector Albert Faille’s cabin, the Papal Grounds, and Fort Simpson Heritage Park, a likely location of the first trading post here in 1801. The Village’s visitor information centre has displays on the history, culture and geography of the region. Tours will last approximately 1.5 hours covering many of our historical buildings and offering tales of colourful past residents. Please be prepared to walk up to 2.5 km (1.5 miles) for the complete tour. Contact the VIC (Visitor Information Centre) for more information.
TIP: Look for walking trails, as well as checking out the guided walking tours explaining the history of Fort Simpson.
Flightseeing Tours
Day tours are offered by local air charter companies to Virginia Falls, Glacier Lake, the Cirque of the Unclimbables and other points of interest in Nahanni Country.

Boat Tours
Fort Simpson is located on an island at the confluence of the “mighty Mackenzie” and Liard Rivers. A range of boat tours are available.
Boat tours can take in wildlife and birds, the unique ecosystem, Indigenous culture both past and present and stories about how to survive in the Arctic.
